Beautification
This committee works with the Assistant Principal to help keep school grounds looking great by organizing one fall and one spring Spruce Up Day on a Saturday morning. (Two Saturdays during the school year)

Box Tops/Labels
This committee collects and processes all Box Tops that are submitted to the school.  They include General Mills, Campbell’s, Community Coffee and Coca-Cola products.  Some processing can be done from home. (As needed)

Community Liaison
This committee coordinates food drives and donations throughout the year benefiting local charitable organizations. 
The committee is responsible for delivering collected items. (One week, 3 times per year)

Corporate Sponsorship
This committee contacts local businesses about WES partnership opportunities including advertisement in the Pelican Press, participating in WES restaurant nights and sponsoring the Pelican Palooza. (Mostly from home as needed)

Cultural Arts - Contests
This committee is responsible for administering all cultural arts contests, including those sponsored by the National PTA (Reflections, Safety Poster and My Louisiana Essay).  Duties include promoting, judging and submitting entries as well
as recognizing and rewarding entrants. (As needed from Sept – Jan)

Cultural Arts Day
This committee works with WES faculty to organize a one-day, school-wide event celebrating Louisiana’s cultural arts.  The event is held in January.  The committee schedules guest artists and performers as well as plans hands-on art activities. (Planning as needed Aug – Jan)

Dad’s Club
This committee organizes and participates in activities that encourage Dads and other male role models to be actively involved at the school.  Activities include the National PTA Watch D.O.G.S. program, Transportation Day and Dad &
Dudes Week.  (One full day per school year and/or as needed)

Environmental/Recycling
This committee works with school Administrators to help educate the WES community on the importance of recycling, reusing and preserving our environment by organizing activities that eliminate waste.  Activities include a newspaper drive, printer cartridge recycling and any other creative outlets for recycling. (Monthly)

Grants
This committee researches and identifies possible grant opportunities through the internet and works with the PTA President and school Principal to complete grant applications. (Mostly from home as needed)

Health & Fitness
This committee organizes school-wide activities that promote active play and healthy lifestyle choices.  This includes working with the Cafeteria Manager and Student Nutrition Advisory Council to promote healthy eating habits and scheduling the LSU Ag Center’s Smart Bodies program (once every 3 years). This committee also maintains the supply
of playground balls, jump ropes, etc.  (Monthly)

Hospitality
This committee hosts breakfasts and luncheons throughout the year to recognize WES support staff.  Committee members prepare food items and/or provide drinks, paper products and other items as needed.  The committee may
be called upon to provide refreshments at special PTA functions. (Monthly)

Office Volunteer Coordinator
Two (2) parent volunteers are present in the office throughout the school day to assist WES office staff as needed. Some of the duties include answering phone calls and assisting guests and students who visit the office.  Office Volunteers work four hour shifts. The Office Volunteer Coordinator recruits and trains office volunteers.  (Two shifts per month)

Pelican Palooza
The Pelican Palooza is WES’ spring fundraiser.  It’s an all-day event, held in March, that is organized by the PTA and faculty and includes a fun run, Turbo Turtle Race, carnival games, concessions and a silent auction.  Committee members organize the various aspects of the festival.  Co-Chairpersons oversee all aspects of the event. (As needed Aug – Mar)

Pelican Press Editor and Copy Committee
The Pelican Press is the school newsletter published twice a month.  It highlights achievements and events at Woodlake and provides information regarding WES and PTA activities. The Editor collects articles and pictures from students, staff and PTA members and prepares and submits the final layout. (Ongoing from home).  The Copy Committee photocopies and distributes the Pelican Press, school-wide, one time per month.  (Approx. 2 hours on the third Tuesday of ea. month)

Pelican Pride Shop
This committee is responsible for purchasing, selling and inventorying all WES merchandise.  Pride Shop merchandise is sold at various events throughout the year including all General PTA meetings, Open Houses, Bring Someone Special to Lunch and Dads & Dudes weeks, among others. (Monthly)

Post Office
This committee is responsible for ensuring the student-run post office is stocked with the necessary supplies. (As needed)

Publicity
This committee takes photos throughout the year at WES events. Pictures may be submitted to the Pelican Press Editor and also to the Technology Resource Teacher for submission to the local newspapers. (Monthly)

Room Representative Chairperson
This committee includes the Room Rep Chair, Grade Level Reps and individual class Room Moms and is responsible for disseminating information from the PTA through the chain to the parents of WES students.  The 3rd grade Rep, in particular, assists the faculty in organizing events specific to the 3rd grade, including the Spring Fling and Saints Junior Training Camp. The primary form of communication for this committee is email.  (As Needed)

Snowflake Shop
This committee creates a week-long “Holiday Bazaar” in December that allows students to shop for gifts at a very affordable price.  The committee purchases, prices and displays all items to be sold and assists students with their shopping selections.(As needed Nov-Dec)

Student Council
This committee assists a WES faculty member with functions related to the student-run student council, including elections, monthly meetings and other council activities. (Monthly)

Supply Packs
This committee works with Administration to offer pre-packaged school supplies to all WES students.  Duties include coordinating both the purchase of supply packs at the end of the school year and delivering packs to classrooms at the start of the next school year. (Mar-May, Aug)

Teacher Appreciation Committee
This committee hosts 4 luncheons (one per 9 week quarter) to recognize WES faculty.  The Chairperson(s) chooses a theme and decorations and committee members prepare food items and/or provide drinks, paper products and other items as needed.  (Quarterly)

Ways and Means Committee
This Committee coordinates all aspects of the fall fund raiser. (Aug-Oct)

Web Master
This committee maintains the WES PTA website. (As Needed from home)
